about

Dutch bass music and electronica producer extraordinaire - Malvae returns to Lost Tribe with a hotly anticipated EP – Forward.

His debut track on the label – ‘Haunts Me (feat. Esther Veen)’ proved to be an online sensation And the talented duo team up again on this release’s title track to supply more moody and intelligent electronica and bass music alongside two more original tracks. The pieces are flecked with his field recordings from global travels coupled with muscular bass and atmospheric synth textures making up these intricate and polished pieces arranged with a keen ear for nuance.

Esther Veen introduces the opener with lyrics meditating on the subject of beginning again, growing and moving on with her topline on 'Forward'. Her haunting vocal is counterbalanced against a backdrop of Malvae’s dynamic and modern production in a track full of intelligent rhythmic changes, unexpected turns and detail that seems ever-evolving.

The multi-talented producer steps out from behind the desk to provide vocals on 'Two Faced'. Moments of ambience interspersed with a repeating fragile and breathy melody ride the dynamic pulsing synths and subtle filtered percussion. Unlike previous tracks this instrumental has a more introspective and contemplative quality to it, showcasing another side of the Dutch producer’s artistry.

The final offering of this release- 'Are We Lost?' is a club-ready, heavyweight bass track that still bears Malvae’s distinct sonic signature. Closing out the EP with a hypnotic vocal line that develops into a full blown electronica beat that will keep your subwoofers honest. Totally unafraid to experiment, he pairs dissonant synth stabs and a plethora of Asian instrumentation that undulate across the rock-solid low end. It’s another prime example of just why this producer is gathering so much attention.
